Embūte Nature Trail

Trail description

This 2.7 km trail runs through Embūte nature park in the hilly Lanka valley, one of the first places in Latvia where the glacier began to retreat. It passes the walls of the Embūte Lutheran church, the ruins of the medieval bishop's castle and the Curonian (Indulis) castle mound, a fortified promontory 26 m high with very steep slopes. The valley's slope forests, springs and ravines are protected, and the park has a picnic area.
