Trail description

A 12.8 km loop from the Mount Longonot National Park gate up to the crater rim and around it over the 2,776 m summit of Mount Longonot, a stratovolcano in the Great Rift Valley south-east of Lake Naivasha, about 60 km north-west of Nairobi. The rim walk alone is a 7.2 km circuit around a crater 1.8 km across, whose floor is covered by a forest of small trees and whose walls have steam vents. The volcano last erupted around 1863 and is protected by the Kenya Wildlife Service.
