Mount Mitsuishi from Matsukawa Onsen

Trail description

Mitsuishiyama, 1,466 m, is a rocky summit in the Hachimantai area of Iwate, named for the large rocks on its top. This out-and-back route climbs from Matsukawa Onsen through forest to the Mitsuishi hut and the small marsh below the summit, 9.2 km with about 600 m of climbing. The open upper slopes are known for their autumn colours, and brown bears live in the area.
