Trail description

Jiigatake, 2,670 m, stands on the main ridge of the Ushiro-Tateyama range in the Northern Alps, on the border of Nagano and Toyama. This out-and-back route climbs the Kashiwabara Shindo from just below Ogisawa to the Tanegaike hut on the ridge and on to the summit, 12.4 km with about 1,330 m of climbing. It is often walked over two days with a night at the Tanegaike hut, which is open only in the summer season; the upper ridge is high, exposed alpine terrain.
