Catherine's Peak from Newcastle

Trail description

From the Jamaica Defence Force hill station at Newcastle, where parking at the parade ground is free, a concrete road climbs through pines, ferns and bromeliads to Catherine's Peak, marked by its communications antennas. It is about 3.3 km one way with roughly 400 m of climb, around 45 minutes each way, and there are no turnoffs. The road is slippery when wet and the top is often in mist, but on a clear day the view takes in Kingston and its harbour.
