Þingvellir Almannagjá Gorge

Trail description

A 1.2 km walk through the Almannagja gorge in Thingvellir National Park, from near the Oxararfoss waterfall up to the Hakid viewing platform and visitor centre. The gorge is a rift at the edge of the North American plate, where it pulls apart from the Eurasian plate. On the way lies Logberg, the Law Rock, where Iceland's assembly, the Althing, met in the open air from 930.
