Trail description
From the parking at Skjólkvíar a track and path climb over lava and ash to the summit of Hekla (1,491 m), one of the most active volcanoes in Iceland. Hekla erupts with very little warning, so check the current alert on SafeTravel before setting out; the top is often in cloud and snow lies on it into summer.
