A 1.5 km hike along a dirt path to the edge of the Ipala volcano crater, next to Laguna de Ipala, located between the departments of Chiquimula and Jutiapa. The crater is approximately 1 km in diameter and the lagoon, covering about 0.52 km², sits at an altitude of 1,493 m.
