Trail description

A climb of about 6 km and 740 m from the coast road at Pūfau, on the west side of Raiatea, up a lane and a ridge path through fern and guava scrub onto the Temehani plateau. The plateau is sacred in Polynesian tradition and the only place in the world where the tiare apetahi flower grows; the flower is protected, so do not pick it, and the clay path is very slippery after rain.
