Utsjoki Áilegas

Trail description

Áilegas (342 m) is the lowest of the three Áilegas fells in Utsjoki, rising near Utsjoki village with a telecom mast on top; the Northern Sámi name refers to a holy fell. Walkers can park in the lay-by at the junction of Nuorgamintie and Ailikkaantie and follow the Ailikkaantie gravel road up the fell (driving it requires a permit), closing the reindeer fence gate behind them. A path then leads across the open top to the summit, with views over the Teno river valley and Utsjoki village.
