Trail description
Hepoköngäs in Puolanka is one of the highest natural waterfalls in Finland, usually quoted at 24 m, where the Heinijoki river drops over an almost vertical rock face. From the car park a gravel path and boardwalk lead to viewing platforms above and opposite the fall, and the 1.5 km geological nature trail, marked with red paint, branches off there, descends to the Heinijoki shore and loops back to the car park. There is a campfire site and a half-kota shelter by the fall.
