Trail description

This old cairn path runs west from Slættanes, a village with no road that was settled in 1835 and abandoned in the 1960s, over Skoradalshálsur and down to the river Reipsá at the north end of Fjallavatn, which usually has to be waded. It then climbs past views of the abandoned village of Víkar through valleys where cairns can be hard to spot, toward Gásadalur. Walk it in dry weather, as the bogs by Fjallavatn get wet and some rocks are slippery.
