Vaivara Blue Hills History Trail

Trail description

This loop near Sinimäe crosses the Blue Hills (Sinimäed), a ridge of three hills where some of the heaviest battles in Estonian history were fought in 1944, and also passes Great Northern War sites. Stops include Grenaderimägi, Tornimägi, Vaivara cemetery edged with trenches and bunkers, the Rootsi kants earthworks and Tannenberg Line trenches. The route is waymarked with white-blue-white rectangles on trees, with information texts at viewpoints and rest stops.
