Seru di Fontein Hiking Loop

Trail description

This loop crosses the Fontein hills on the road to Westpunt, past old wells, walls and a small lake that fills in the rainy season. Seru Neger was the scene of a battle between enslaved people and soldiers of the Dutch West India Company, marked by a clenched fist monument. The ground is uneven with low stone walls hidden in the brush; entering through the Fontein villa park needs the owner's permission, while a walking path opposite the Ascencion entrance is the other way in.
