Volcán Puyehue desde El Caulle

Trail description

A 10 km climb of about 1,880 m from El Caulle on the road to the Cardenal Samoré pass up through forest and volcanic sand to the 2,240 m summit of the Puyehue volcano, with views into the crater and over the Cordón Caulle lava fields. It takes two days, with a night at the Refugio El Caulle, and many walkers go on to the geyser field beyond. The trail crosses private land at El Caulle, where an access fee is charged.
