Shipka Memorial from Shipka Monastery

Trail description

A steep climb from the Shipka Memorial Church with its golden domes in the town of Shipka on the old path through oak and beech forest to the Freedom Monument on Shipka peak (1326 m). The monument marks the 1877 battle for the Shipka pass, and its tower looks over the Valley of the Roses and the Balkan ridge. The path gains about 750 m.
