Botev from Apriltsi via Pleven Hut

Trail description

A long climb from the upper end of Apriltsi through beech forest past the Pleven hut onto the main ridge of the Central Balkan to Botev (2376 m), the highest summit of Stara Planina. The path gains about 1,850 m; the Pleven hut halfway and the Botev shelter below the top make it easy to split over two days. The route lies in the Central Balkan National Park, and the open ridge is often in wind and fog.
