Trail description
A 1.6 km walk along a trail from the Laguna Colorada hamlet, on the shores of the lagoon, to the viewpoint at about 4,330 m in the Eduardo Abaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve. The lagoon, covering 54 km² with an average depth of just 35 cm, owes its red color to its algae and high mineral content, and features islands of borax. It is a breeding ground for thousands of Andean flamingos, and due to its remote location, it can only be reached by jeep excursions from Uyuni, Tupiza, or San Pedro de Atacama.
